Mission accomplished for the first Aqua Fair Asia
Aqua Fair Asia closed successfully in Guangzhou on 11th October 2015, after four important days for the future of the Aquarium Industry. Announced less than 12 months ago, the new event was stimulating on many levels.
China is getting crowded with pet and aquarium tradeshows, and it sometime gets difficult for suppliers to understand how to make the best of their marketing budget, and for buyers to plan time-effective business trips. For this reason, Aqua Fair Asia was developed from the beginning with professionals from the Aquarium Industry, with a very simple concept in mind: deliver business and make the trip to China and the visit of the show a comprehensive and smooth experience.
One key focus of this first edition was to propose a platform relying on a strong base of major industry suppliers, to support the development of a supply chain show concept. Mission accomplished with flying colors, since very few of the world leading suppliers were missing. The next edition will add two layers to extend the supply chain coverage: brands and raw products.
Since an exhibition would obviously be nothing without its clients’ customers, a special attention was put into bringing the right audience. The pre-show match-making system expedited the waiting time for demanding buyers to meet the key people, during the first two days of the show. The third day saw a majority of south-China retailers, which made business sense for Chinese suppliers who are in the process of building their brand image in their domestic market. The last day was open to consumers and of interest for exhibitors for the same reason, adding the opportunity to educate their final clients.
Designed to be not only an exhibition but a comprehensive business accelerator ecosystem, Aqua Fair Asia came with a new hi-profile networking conference: the International Aquarium Industry Summit (IAIS). Mr. Shane Willis (Ornamental Fish International), Mr. Allan Mei (Taiwan Pet Industry Development Association), Mr. Horst Linke (Author and fish hobbyist), Mr. Jiang Xiaoming (Taiwan Fish Magazine), Mr. Pascal Sewer (Switzerland Aquarium Industry Association), Mr. Benny Hao (Shanghai Favor Business) and Mr. Yang Qinquan (Guangdong Aquarium Industry Association) presented key elements of development for the global industry, and discussed challenges and opportunities for the sector.
Multiples on-site activities were spread across the show floor: Koi competition, Live Aquascaping contest involving both confirmed and new aquarium designers, demonstrations & workshops, games and lucky draws.
To say the least, Aqua Fair Asia was a serious success and is already expected to grow faster than expected. In 2016, the show will take place on September 22-25.
